Charlotte Schatz was born in Philadelphia and lives and works here. She is a graduate of the Tyler School of Art and is Professor Emeritus at Bucks County Community College. Schatz has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Leeway Grant for Established Artists and a Pollock-Krasner Award and is represented in the permanent collection of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, the James A Michener Art Museum, the University City Science Museum and numerous public and private collections. Schatz has had solo exhibitions through the Philadelphia Art Museum at Center Square, Grounds for Sculpture, the Philadelphia Art Alliance and numerous Commercial and University Art Galleries and been included in many group exhibitions. Her interest in color and form are reflected in her "Precisionist" paintings of industrial ruins of the last 25 years. As a colorist, her new paintings reflect a move from the structured, high key paintings of the last 30 years to a more liberated intuitive exploration of abstract color and form.
