There is a pond at the edge of a woods where I did many paintings. The sunset through the trees one evening inspired me.
My work is fueled by a childhood need to be heard. It is fed by a passion for nature, music, dance, and poetry, as well as a deep listening in my connection with Christ, the healing, loving voice in my soul.
I build upon the work of artists who have come before - centuries of landscapes, still lifes, and figurative paintings as well as abstract works. There is a kind of wrestling that happens. How do I honor and learn from the art of the past but paint with my own voice? My hope is that you, the viewer, will feel invited into the dialogue.
Paintings are in the collections of the Woodmere Art Museum, the James A. Michener Art Museum, and the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art, as well as the Bryn Mawr College Library Collection, the Villanova University Art Collection, University of Mary Washington Galleries, the School Collection of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Monmouth Comprehensive School, U.K.
